Uh yeah, so right it's been a while. Went to tumblr for a bit, it was ok, but full of too many cool kids. I'm not really a cool kid and I just wanted to write some thoughts down from the weekly commute (although I do have a whole 'nother day. Well and then the big commute back to the ICT. This weekend is the baby shower so Em will prolly be pretty busy, but it'll still be good to see her. Anyways.. so my thoughts.
A.) I really like Black Light Burns. Its one of those bands I "shouldn't" like like Queens of the Stone Age and those 2 Incubus songs I like, but I like it so eat it. The crazy thing is, I started off semi-liking them after listening to Mesopotamia, but atually I do believe that is the weakest song on the album. There is some really good stuff on there.
B.) I've been playing my xbox on a 23" monitor I picked up last sunday. I actually am enjoying it, but the sound sucks. I also picked up one of those turtle beach headsets, but its got all kinds of crazy wires. I left my 360 sound adapter at home, so I can't try it out. I know they make a wireless version, but I was trying to do the 360 on the cheap.
C.) I've also been watching netflix and hulu stuff on said monitor. Very nice, who needs tv. Cept the new season of True Blood came out last week. Love that show. Hopefully I'll get a chance to get caught up on it this weekend. Been watching Dexter, that show is really really good. I'm late to the party, but it's good stuff.
D.) The more I think about it the more this post might need to be seperate. It's all about how reading left to right has affected western culture. and maybe the culture at large. It's an original thought by me, but prolly not in general. Anyway, it's worth a write up. Maybe I'll post it later or something.

see.. seriously..
Once a month.. lol.
Anyway, the non pop thing died a pretty quick death. Well and honestly, it had less to do with pop and more to do with associations. I eat out a lot, mostly because I eat alone a lot (not a sad thing, em and I are busy people so.. ) and I need to kill that. Badly. The biggest problem is I crave fountain Diet Coke. Something about a Fountain DC is soo much better than a can or 2 lt. Anyway, thats why I needed to stop.
But I didn't. well I did for a while, and the funky thing is, I stopped eating out.. (to avoid the temptation).. and actually replaced all DC with tea (orange Pico or whatever it is american Iced tea). and the other odd thing is, I didn't get as hungry. I've heard that fake sweetener actually makes you more hungry.. but who knows.
Either way, my week long sojourn to the no pop side is over.
TV... man.. DVRs are awesome. I never watched TV before getting a DVR. Maybe thats a bad thing, I dunno. I hate trying to make appointments just to sit on the couch. I feel guilty then start getting fidgety. Unless I'm watching with someone else.. then its like I'm doing something. Anyway. THis fall TV season has been funky.
Fringe - I'm not sure I like it. Em and I made up a drinking game for the first episode. Every time Olivia Dunn (??) says.. "I'm Olivia Dunn" take a shot. I'm pretty sure she says it 20 times in the premier. We've watched 2 episodes and I kinda like it, but it's going to have to be less derivative of X files or its moving off the DVR list.
True Blood - This show is dumb.. but I'm addicted. It's written for women (check out all of the guys..) seriously.. yes there is sex.. but it's still very much a chick show. I know it's based off a series of novels, that I think are pretty much vampire romance (which btw.. Book a Holic on the west side now has a section called "Horror Romance" who woulda thunk). Regardless, it appeals to that 35% gay part of me, and I dig it. Even if it is dumb.
Heroes - Um.. Meh. I could do an entire post. and prolly will.. in another 30 days
Just got finished watching Sanctuary and the New Clone Wars thing. I actually like both of them quite a bit. Sanctuary is cheezy, but I dig it. and Clone Wars was pretty much better than all of the other Star Wars stuff since RotJ (scratch that, the Genedy Tarakovsi (sp?) clone wars was awesome. Especially the first season.).
Anyway, It's late and I should sleep. See you after Halloween. =)

So.. it's an every 30days thing
Or something like that I dunno..
Things.. Well things are things. I've decided to stop drinking pop (soda, coke whatever). Keep this in mind, I've been drinking diet coke/soda for probably most of my life. I was a big pop drinker in my youth. Mostly because it was a reward from my mother. Clean your room we'll go into town and get a coke. that kind of thing. it was the 80's so don't go baggin on my mom for not being all internet cool and vegetarian. Hell, that was back when you could still buy the cool Lawn darts.. so its no wonder I didn't end up with a hole in my head.
So yeah, No more diet coke. I'm already kinda going through the DTs. I think its more the caffeine than anything, but I'm not quitting caffeine. Most of my caffeine intake was from diet coke, so I'm going to try switching over to tea. I already drink 3-4 cups of green tea a day, but that doesn't have much in the way of Caffeine. So my plan is to supplement it with Iced Tea. Nice Antioxidants.. (which i'm pretty sure is b/s). and caffeine (which you're supposed to have some of anyway.. which again is probably b/s).
Which brings me to all this Alarmist poop that pops up on the internet and magazines. Pretty much, whatever you're going to eat.. is going to kill you. Pretty much. I'm dying right now. Even if I was in awesome health. I'm dying. It's the nature of being a live. The chaos of life going towards the Order of death.. back to the chaos of life that our bodies (should) give back to the earth. Granted we're all embalmbed so worms won't even go close to use, but still.
Anyway, F them.
Wow, I'm in a pissy mood.. I wish I had a large diet coke. rt44 style from Sonic.. GD they make a tasty beverage.
ok, back to WoW or 360 so I stop thinking about it.

Dee and Dee
So I haven't really been blogging like at all, mainly cause I just don't. Not that blogging is bad or anything, I'm just not sure I have anything that interesting to say. That said.. here is an update.
So I've started playing D&D quite a bit actually. I've never really been much of a Fantasy Setting person. Got burned out on it back in High School. I mean, yeah, I've read LotR and the hobbie, I know who D'rizzt (sp?) is, Robert Jordan etc. It just hasn't intrested me in a while. All of the stories seemed played out, and basically rip offs of LotR. Fast forward to a couple of years ago when Jay talked me into reading the Song of Fire and Ice books. Hells Bells. I hadn't torn through a books like that in a loong time (quite possibly the last one was Stand back in 5th grade).
And that kicked off a new age of reading in my life. It's pretty awesome actually. Up to that point I was pretty much only reading comics and graphic novels. Whats weird is that I didn't even know that I missed reading books. So I finished up the Fire and Ice books, well up to the 4th one, I'm still waiting on the 5th book to be published before reading the 4th book. I could just read it again, but... I have since discovered other authors and books.
For example, a friend from work turned me on to Richard K. Morgan Kovacs novels. Nice new scifi stuff. Then I started reading the Malazan series by Stephen Erikson. and here is the silly thing. I am not a fan of book series. I usually get tired of the characters. There wasn't any real danger of the Characters dying off, so the drama was lost on me. These new books however, have real drama. These new authors get you attached to characters and then kill them off. Making you want to read more. Anyway. So I was kinda into the whole fantasy setting thing.
and here I thought I didn't have anything to say, AND I was going to talk about DnD. Oh well, I'll save the post for later.

Election Day Blues
I don't really know why I'm blogging, but for some reason listening to that new Muse album makes me want to blog.. either that or join the space marines.. and fuck some alien shit up.... speaking of that.. well.. ok... lets start from the begining.. the last couple of months have been fucking crazy.. like sTOOPid crazy. busy... anyway.. went a couple o' weeks ago to the Astrokitty halloween thing and started my trip off by taking the train.. yeah.. the train.. I live in Ks, and there is a fucking train.. go figure.. most people here only drive cars.. but if you.. get this.. drive a care to Newton.. (about 30 min north of our house).. you can hop a train (amtrak) and get a one way ticket to Lawrence for $26.. not too shabby.. seeing as it would cost me twice that in gas to drive "THE BEAST".. Anyway.. the train ride was uneventful.. 'cept for all the poop running through my mind.. for some reason it felt really cool to ride the train. I kinda felt free.. like I could keep riding.. go to Chicago.. hop another train and make my way east.. and just keep going.. granted.. I'd miss my Wife, and family and friends.. but how cool would that be to just take a month.. and ride the train to where ever the fuck it took you... granted that would be quite a bit easier in Europe, but it'd still be cool in the US.. theres plenty of cool shit to see here.. and most of them don't hate you just because you're American... they have many other reasons.. but still.. anyway.. keep in mind this all happend at about 4 in the morning.. after the train was an hour late.. so anyway..
Met this cool older couple who rode the train from LA to Lawrence.. (they were originally from Alaska.).. and yeah.. Met up with Joel and Erin.. although not after standing outside the Lawrence train station looking like a Gay hooker.. "hey buddy.. $20 for a blow.. ".. or would that be Man of the evening.. whatever..
Went to their abode.. crashed for a bit then went to a Comic Convention in KC.. in the worst fucking place in the world.. It was like a business park in the middle of a train yard.. shit you not... anyway.. Ed Brubaker was there along with a bunch of cool artists.. Chris Samnee was there, got a kick arse John Constantine from him.. for $5 less than he was asking for.. since I ran out of money buying cheap "Hawaiian Dick" trades and other shit.. I always seem to buy stuff from artist ally that I don't really want.. or that I don't really want after the fact.. I dunno.. I feel bad.. here these guys are working their arses off for our a piece of the comic pie.. and just because they don't draw superheros no one pay attention.. sad sad.. but whatever..
anyway.. I owe that Chris Samnee kid a drink the next time I see him..
Jesus.. I just referred to someone as a kid.. who is probably my age.. fuck me..
Anyway.. had a good time.. I really like coming up and visiting Erin and Joel... I know Joel and I can be bitchy with each other.. but we weren't too bad this weekend.. and sometimes.. even the bitchynes is nice. They are nice kids.. they'll be good together..
Annyways.. Went to the Halloween party afterwards.. had a good time.. Wished Em was with me.. but what you going to do.. I took an arse ton of pictures.. some turned out pretty cool.. some like ass.. but what you going to do.. I'm still getting used to that new camera.. and pine for a DSLR.. maybe someday.. when I stop buying fucking videogame systems...
I spent the next week formatting that shit for the Web.. Craziness..
Went to Zacheria's wedding the following day.. and it was good.. nice place.. finally got to meet his wife.. and shes pretty cool.. I've got an arse ton of photos from that also, but have yet to f with putting them up.... anyway.....
and to think.. I started off this post with the intention of talking about how bad I wanted to buy Gears of War today.. but was stopped at every corner by the man..
oh.. and I did vote.. but I was surly about it.. since I didn't have GoW to play when I got done.. so some of you f'ers on the ballot didn't get your fair shake.. but fuck ya.. you're politicians or judges anyway.. anyway..

First post.. and mii stuff
Ok, so I was one of the chromosomally challenged nerds that got up early on friday to score a Pre-order for the wii from the local gamestop (oh.. and i'm not going to fuck with grammer or spelling so you english nazis out there have a field day.. ).. and actually had a blast.. slowly but surely I'm discovering this side of my personality that is quite a bit like my mother.. Its a loong story.. for those of you who know me.. you know the score.. and actually you're prolly the only people reading this anyway.. but.. Mom is talkie.. friendly.. talks to random people while waiting in line anywhere.. she'd prolly make friends on her way to the electric chair.. dad.. is opposite.. and I'm kinda more like him in most ways.. hate going out in public.. try to do it, cause I don't really want to be all shut in.. and don't want it to stop me from having fun.. anyway.. .. where am I going with this.. oh yeah..
so a couple of weeks ago.. me n' Tiberius and Muff went to Lebowski Fest.. first time for all of us.. and we had a blast... and drank.. pretty much for 2 days straight.. I'm not a drinker normally.. I'm pretty straight laced.. but this time I just went fn' crazy.. not puking crazy.. but pretty crazy for me.. anyway.. and in doing so.. I became mr social butterfly man.. started talking to anyone and everyone.. in fact.. on the last night, I started to dance.. yeah.. all ###lbs of me dancing.. f'n crazy.. and you know.. I had a blast.. dancing with pretty much any one that would dance with me.. by the end of the evening.. I had all kinds of dancing friends.. in fact.. I think one may have been a hairy bear type.. .. which brings up another story for another post.. anyway.. back to the Wii thing..
So there there I was with Tiberius waiting in line to get a Pre-order for a Wii.. which is even nerdier than actually waiting in line for the Wii itself.. but whatever.. Me n' T were #s 6-7 in the Wii line.. with some QT kid we met being #8. Lucky for us there 8 preorders. So we got there around 8:45 or so (Gamestop..opened @ 10), and just basically shot the poop with our gaming bretheren.. I should say I shot the poop with them.. T was kinda quiet.. anyway.. so I'm all making friends in line for a wii pre-order.. friends is a strong word.. but you know.. friends of the moment... anyway.. most of the doofs in line were like me n' Tiberius.. playing hooky @ work.. and really too old to be waiting in line for a game system.. Then there was this mom and her 2 kids.. one a freshman in HS and the other a Senior.. and they both played stringed instruments.. Viola and Cello or some shit... to think.. there are people in Wichita that actually play instruments that aren't a piano.. or guitar.. who'da thunk... maybe there is some culture here after all.
anyway.. I ended up trading in a arseton of games, (which again is for another post..since trading games to GS or EB is Fucking Stupid.... but what the hell.. it's $50 I didn't have to pay.. and I bought most of the games from Gamefly.. and actually I think I got more for one of the games than I paid for it.. ), so my pre-order only cost me $1.74.. for a Wii and the new Zelda game... ..
and I'll be there on the Midnight of the 19th.. rockin.. then three day work week.. and thanksgiving.. WOO yay for me..
Now if my defective sperm would just get my wife preggers.. life would be good..
